Center for Peacebuilding

Our way is peace

In 2019, Center for Peacebuilding organized an event called Peace Fest as a part of the celebration of the 10th International Peace Week.

During the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Sanski Most and CIM’s founders addressed the attendees and presented awards for Ambassadors of Peace, Volunteers of the Year, and Donors of the Year. Choirs Harmony and Melody and the Perspective group complemented this festive event with their musical performances.

Activities during the week included the viewing of a documentary, “The Prosecutors”, as well as lectures on peacebuilding, justice in reconciliation processes, forgiveness, traditional and transitional justice, influence and responsibility of the media and interreligious dialogue. In addition to this, former concentration camp prisoners shared their stories and war experiences. Representatives from Youth for Peace gave a lecture on “What can we do?”, where they discussed individual activism and contribution to social change.

There was also a lecture held in two middle schools in Sanski Most about how to develop learning children and critical thinking. Representatives from CIM also talked to students about youth activism.

On the last day of our Peace Fest we celebrated the International Peace day. CIM’s theater ”Life” performed a play called ”Ashamed of the mother”, after which our small actors and participants had the opportunity to draw and make the Peace wall which in the end was really colorful and big. At night we had the closing ceremony of the Peace fest where choirs from Bugojno and Cazin as well as our local choir Harmony made our concert for Peace more special and beautiful.

About Us

Today, the Center for Peacebuilding (CIM) stands on the former frontlines of the war, acting as a bridge between a past that few can currently discuss and a future where open dialogue can rehumanize the enemy and dispel the misinformation that acts as the seeds for hatred.
