Our way is peace

CIM TEAM On July - 22 - 2015

In 2012 CIM asked our supporters to help us fundraise through small, individual donations. We were in a critical stage of development, unable to fund even our main project, the annual Peace Camp. An opportunity arose to become a partner organisation of GlobalGiving, a platform that would allow us to access tools that would facilitate online donations and increase our visibility.

We asked people to help us raise $4000 in one month to secure a place on GlobalGiving, where their contributions would continue to help CIM grow. More than 100 people contributed to the original campaign, and together we achieved our goal. Our support base on GlobalGiving has since grown to 314 people, all of whom show their encouragement in so many ways.

We have been able to develop new fundraising strategies for our organisation. Peace Camp was funded  for three years almost entirely through small individual donations. We have increased our capacity to listen to our community members’ needs, and adjust our programming to reflect our grassroots ethos and values. We have been able to better communicate our impact, as well as our plans and future goals. We have, today, managed to buy a plot of land to build a community centre in Sanski Most. Through the support of those who trust our knowledge, skills and capabilities, we continue to find the  strength to pursue our goals.

On the 15th of July 2015, on a GlobalGiving bonus day, CIM received over $5000 in donations. This boosted our ranking of our GlobalGiving rewards level to a ‘superstar organisation’. It is thanks to people’s consistent support for and trust in all of our work that we have managed to get to where we are today. From now on, CIM will be visible to more donors as a trusted organisation on GlobalGiving, be promoted in social media campaigns and recommended for future funding. Through your contributions, you have  empowered us, enabling us to  empower our community.

“The power of crowdfunding isn’t in the funding, it’s in the crowd.”
