Center for Peacebuilding

Our way is peace

Tomorrow’s Peacebuilders is an annual competition organised by UK-based Peace Direct. The organisation supports local, grassroots peacebuilding efforts all around the world. In their work they are guided by local ownership principles, and try to encourage and advocate for local solutions to dealing with and preventing conflict worldwide.

This year CIM entered the competition for the Tomorrow’s Peacebuilders Award. We were shortlisted and were among the four winners of the competition. The award is of great importance to CIM as its main aim is to recognise small efforts on the ground that are not always visible or known world-wide.

On the 11th of November (Armistice Day), CIM’s executive director Vahidin Omanovic was in London to receive the award. He gave a talk at the King’s College London, organised by the Centre for Conflict, Security and Development Research Group. The talk focused on prospects for peace in BiH, 20 years after the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords. He was also a guest on the BBC Outlook show on the 12th of November. The recording can be found online here.

We wish to thank all of our supporters for helping us get to this stage. In CIM we work on the ground, with the local community, but we wouldn’t have been able to get this far without support from friends and people from all over the world.

About Us

Today, the Center for Peacebuilding (CIM) stands on the former frontlines of the war, acting as a bridge between a past that few can currently discuss and a future where open dialogue can rehumanize the enemy and dispel the misinformation that acts as the seeds for hatred.
