Center for Peacebuilding

Our way is peace

CIM TEAM On September - 19 - 2014

Peace Camp is a project that has been conducted ever since the year CIM was founded. So this year we were very glad to be able to invite youth of different backgrounds from all over Bosnia again to come together and learn about peacebuilding and conflict resolution already for the 11th time. The Peace Camp took place at Hotel Sedra near Bihać between the 24th and 29th of August. This year we had 16 participants between the age of 17 to 33 from Zenica, Proboj, Tuzla and Visoko, among them four former Peace Camp participants who helped to facilitate the activities as group leaders. Moreover, two internationals took part in the activities.

Like the years before, every morning we started  with a different prayer/reflection representing the different religious backgrounds of the participants. During the week we discussed a variety of topics like identity, stereotypes, discrimination and narratives of the Bosnian War as well as conducting a lot of activities related to conflict resolution, for example the cycle of revenge and reconciliation. Besides, to enable the participants to give trainings on peacebuilding in their home communities in order to foster reconciliation all over Bosnia, they practised to create and conduct their own workshops. Although it was hard at times for our participants, they also had a lot of fun during games and other activities meant to build relationships. By the end of the week all of them had made new friends that  they are looking forward to meet again in the future.
