Center for Peacebuilding

Our way is peace

CIM TEAM On July - 6 - 2018

From 26th June to 4th July in 2018, CIM hosted the group Village Harmony from the United States. For the fourth year in a row, the Village Harmony from the United States of America, thanks to Center for Peacebuilding of Sanski Most, is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they with songs try to build bridges of peace among people. What’s loving about Village Harmony is how they cherish the traditional songs of various countries, and Bosnians songs also. The leader of the choir is Mary Cay, who lived as a student in the former Yugoslavia, studying ethnomusicology. The choir Village Harmony along with CIM’s Interreligious choir Harmony daily had rehearsals led by professors Alma Karabeg and Mary Cay.

This year the choirs performed in several Bosnian cities:
Sanski Most, Bugojno, Jajce, Donji Vakuf, Konjic and Sarajevo.
The audience was thrilled with the quality of the performences of popular sevdalinka and ilahi as well as traditional songs from America and South Africa.

The members of the choir Vilage Harmony were housed in private homes of our hosts from Sanski Most. They hosted them by their desire to present to them the culture and tradition of living of people from these areas.
